Today we served Durham’s   #FeedTheFight   with 30 chicken meals and 20 veggie meals. This is part of our team making an assembly line to finish. Teresa on maduros, Bety on arroz congris, chef doling out chicken and helping me with salad, Carole adding the dressing then packaging everything up. Kate came in clutch making the delivery! Oh, I forgot to mention the now 12 hours we have spent deep cleaning the bar and kitchen prior to this. It’s been a rainy week but dang, it let us get a LOT done. • • •   #durham     #downtowndurham     #northcarolina     #feedthefight     #frontline     #essentialworkers     #healthcare     #kindnessfromhome     #passiton     #donatefood     #dogood

Sometimes it's good to go back to the simple things! So here's a simple reminder of how to enjoy the   #gift   of   #giving   through The Good Registry. After two months at home many of us have realised we don't need more stuff but we still want to celebrate special people and special occasions. Our Good Gift Cards and Registries mean you can show you care with donations to good causes instead of unwanted or unnecessary gifts. At the moment we also have a third way to give, which we set up especially for people who are working at home and would like to donate a little of the money they're saving on commutes or take-outs to any of our 65 charity partners all in one place - we called it   #KindnessFromHome  . It's super simple - and If you have any questions, please just ask!

You've probably heard us speak of   @thegoodregistrynz   plenty of times, and there are a number of reasons for this!⠀ ⠀ They make it simple and easy for you to run a fundraiser of your own or replace the awkwardness of unthought out gifts with a donation to your favourite charity.⠀ ⠀ Well now, given the world's crazy times, they’ve created a new page on their website to make it simple for people who are working from home to donate money they may be saving (on commutes, coffees, lunches etc) to any or all of their 65 charity partners. ⠀ ⠀ They’ve done this because they’ve heard from people who are noticing the extra money in their bank accounts and would like to use this for good — so they‘re giving you all a simple way to connect with and support these charities in one place. ⠀ ⠀ You could could, for example, give your commute or their coffee cost to a different charity each day, or save it all up to give to one.⠀ ⠀ The concept is called   #KindessFromHome   and the link is here https://thegoodregistry.com/collections/kindness-from-home⠀ ⠀ It is a tough time for many and the work some of these charities do with our most vulnerable will be pushed even further so please, if you can give some   #KindnessFromHome   with your daily, weekly or monthly cost of your commute, bought lunches and dinners, coffees or after-work drinks then have a look. It's easy and practical and will mean the world to some. ⠀ ⠀   #bekind     #donations     #cdrrnz

Here's how it's shaping up on the "leaderboard" for takeaway coffees "offset" through our Covid-19   #KindnessFromHome   project. It looks like people have been giving their support to many of the charities that are more critical in our communities than ever at this time, with the favourites including: Wellington Womens Refuge, The Aunties,   @kidscannz  ,   @wellingtonnightshelter   and   @wellington  _free. The Good Registry's   #KindnessFromHome   project is a simple way that people who have been working from home without their income impacted, and have been saving a few dollars on takeaway coffees, lunches or commutes, can donate in one place to 65 different Kiwi causes. If you're interested in donating or just taking a look and learning more about 65 awesome   #charities  , you can check it out at thegoodregistry.com/kindness And big thanks to everyone who has given already!   #Kindness     #socialimpact     #workingfromhome

When I decided to take my friend up on her offer of a free seat to NYC in April 2019, I got raised eyebrows from some of the females in my family about my decision. . . Leaving a 5 month old with his Dad for two nights! The shock and horror😂. . . 18 - 24 May is national Mental Health awareness week in the UK. . . The theme is kindness. If you know me well, you know that I believe kindness starts with yourself! . . I went to New York and had a once in a lifetime experience, supported in my decision by my partner. I came back feeling more love and admiration for myself AND a renewed energy and love towards my son. . . The kindness of my friend, partner and family to care for me and my son in those early dark days; really made the difference to the shape of my relationship with myself. . . This week, I'll be talking about some of my most treasured memories of people's acts of kindness and ways to show that   #kindnessmatters  , now more than ever. I hope you will share with me.   #kindnessmatters     #mentalhealthawarenessweek

One of the things keeping me positive right now is doing acts of kindness for the people around me. This is a really tough time for all of us, especially because the best thing you can do for others at the moment is to stay home! Here are some ideas I’ve come up with: write letters to friends and family, and even people you don’t know, like residents at the nursing home! Bring that freshly baked banana bread to your neighbors! Learn how to make friendship bracelets! • • •   #togetherathome     #together     #covid19     #supportlocal     #supporteachother     #randomactsofkindness     #littlethings     #reachforthesun     #standwithhaiti     #standwithhaiti  🇭🇹   #2020together     #unitedwestand     #stayhome     #kindnessfromhome     #physicaldistancing

Bake something with love for someone in your bubble this weekend, whether its your mum or someone in your extended bubble. Our friends from   @good  _bitches_baking sent us one of their favourite recipes 'Chocolate Wacky Cake' for you to try out! Method: Heat the oven to 160C, grease/line an 8 to 9 inch round or square pan, a ring pan, or a small (approx. 6 cup) bundt pan. Whisk the first measure of cocoa into the hot liquid and leave to cool a bit. Mix the sugar, flour, baking soda, salt and second measure of cocoa in a large bowl. When the cocoa liquid has cooled off a bit, you can either make three wells in the dry ingredients and put the oil in one, the vinegar in one and the vanilla in one and pour over the liquid or just dump it all in at once. Stir until just smooth. Immediately transfer the batter to your prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes depending on the size and shape of your pan. The cake is done if it springs back when lightly pressed in the centre or a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes or so before turning out onto a rack to cool completely. Ice and decorate with whatever you like or have on hand. As a bundt is is lovely with a fudge glaze made with 3 tbsp each of cocoa, sugar, butter and water whisked together and simmered for 2 minutes. Let cool slightly and pour over! 🤤🤤🤤   #Kindnessfromhome     #stayhome     #savelives     #bubblebaking
