Oh glorious tools! Tatyanna Meharry has organised a TREAT of a Make Along. ☕️
In your kitset for Make Along Three, you’ll receive four special tools that have been foraged for by @tatyannameharry on the wild and wonderful Canterbury Bight of Te Wai Pounamu - specifically - Birdlings Flat. Birdlings Flat is a hotspot for semi-precious gemstones, and home to raging waves and kilometers of stones and pebbles.
Here’s what you’ll receive at home: ☕️
1. Textured wire cutter. This wire cutter will make some fantastic wavy textures when faceting your chawan with it’s twisted wire length. The supporting beads are made of local clay that Tatyanna has foraged. 🌿
2. Driftwood Pointed Tool. Dry driftwood dots Birdlings Flat making many a comfy seat, walking stick and pottery tool. Tatyanna has foraged perfect pieces, then sharpened one end for undercutting and decorating, and has kept the other end rounded for a different type of finish. 🌿
3. Basalt Lava texture tool. The Eastern end of the long beach is made from volcanic rock that is 8-10 million years old! This piece of rock will aid you in texturing your chawan. 🌿
3. Riverstone Rib. These lovely greywacke stones have been transported from southern rivers on strong ocean currents and deposited onto Birdlings Flat. This tool will allow you to open up your chawan into its bowly glory.
Geology and pottery are intrinsically linked. There’s a growing movement to forage your own clay and make your own tools from the landscape around you. Tatyanna Meharry is giving you a leg-up into this amazing world of natural tools. ☕️
We have a limited number of kitsets for this Make Along, so don’t wait around! Link in bio for purchase. ☕️
